Best Friends by D.M. De Alwis
BEST FRIENDS was inspired by an event where my upbeat daughter, Enora, hesitated to attend school. She was sad. In a classic playground move, a friend told her she was not her BFF.
She was having trouble accepting rejection. I had a conversation with my daughter that ended with her changing focus from one friend to another.
We're all hooked by the negative. Kids (just like adults) feel rejection and cling to that feeling. The problem is that focusing on the rejection leads to missed opportunities staring you in the face.

THE TAKING (2009)
"My protagonist, Lana Elena Llanasolion, came alive on paper. Her story was strange and dark. My post-pubescent obsession with suicide, death, and escape through portals was bleak. This would be a gothic novel. This would also be a world with Sanskrit and demonic possessions." - Author Blog - Writing at the turn of the 21st century.
